Chusen dyeing (chusen) is a technique of
pouring and dyeing dyes,was born in Osaka
during the Meiji era.(Meiji era 1868~1912).
Designated as a traditional craft in 2019.
This delicate and gentle blur and smear art can
be expressed only because of the manual work of the craftsman.
The inimitable texture is the most attractive feature.
In Japan, Tenugui were originally used as hand towels.
But the production was once decreased
because linen loop pile towels are developed.
Today there's a growing appreciation for tenugui.
tenugui is going to be popular,
especially among the young generation.
They use not only hand towels but also book cover, bandana,
lunch mat or wrapping lunch boxes, gift etc...there are various ways.
