In May, we had the honor of hosting a Tsumami Zaiku workshop at the Osaka-Kansai Expo. Many of our guests were from overseas.
One American couple came by, a bit unsure at first.
“Isn’t it too difficult?” they asked.
But after trying it, they said, “Wow, it’s easier than we thought!”
In fact, the husband had the most fun — he proudly placed his finished flower on his ear and smiled 🌸😊
Another visitor from Russia was fascinated.
She asked, “How does this fabric become a flower?”
She was amazed by the soft color gradients of the Sakai Chusen dye and the 3D shape of Tsumami Zaiku.
The Hana Iroha × Sakai Chusen DIY kit we used was even selected as an official item representing Osaka!
You can also find this kit in our Chirimenbunny shop.
Although our main focus is kimono accessories, Tsumami Zaiku shares the same roots —
it’s a traditional Japanese craft born from leftover kimono fabric.
The spirit of upcycling and creating beauty from scraps is at the heart of everything we do.
And there’s more.
we also launched the very first Tsumami Zaiku Certified Instructor Course, starting in Singapore.
We already have seven new beginner-level instructors, and they are now using the DIY kit to teach others —
people who are discovering Tsumami Zaiku for the very first time.
Seeing someone I taught become a teacher — and watching them inspire others —was truly moving.
This isn’t just about a workshop or a product.
It’s a growing story of how Japanese tradition connects people across borders.
Let’s keep sharing this beauty with the world,
one flower at a time.
