Setsubun-day FEB 3

What exactly does Setsubun mean? It is generally said to be an event to ward off evil spirits and wish for good health.

On this day,in a custom called “mame-maki”, People scatter beans to drive away evil and bring in good luck.people throw roasted soy beans inside and outside their houses while saying”Get devils out of the house!

However, where I was born in Hiroshima, rather than the custom of throwing beans, there was a Halloween-like custom of children carrying bags and going around the neighborhood to get candy.

When I was a child, I remember going to a house to get candy, and while waiting in a long line, the candy ran out just in front of me, and I cried a lot. I still remember that, so I must have been very disappointed that I didn't get any sweets.

There are many customs of Setsubun in different regions.
It's interesting, isn't it!
